Four Real Arizona FC Players Advance to the ASA Olympic Development Program (ODP) Pool Training

After two grueling hot summer days in the hot AZ desert that consisted of intensive drills and scrimmages, Tony Rodriguez (2007), Gabriel Sosa (2007), Michael Sosa (2009), and Cesar Lua (2009 - NOT PICTURED) have been selected for ODP pool training and are one step closer for a chance to represent the great state of Arizona within their respective age brackets.

CONGRATULATIONS BOYS!

The ASA ODP experience begins with open tryouts, held in August of each year. ODP tryout schedules are published on the ODP website azyouthsoccer.org, and are advertised to local soccer associations each year during the summer. Players register to the age-appropriate and gender-appropriate tryout sessions where coaches evaluate players’ performance and skills, including technique, tactics, athletic ability, and attitude. After try outs are complete, coaches select players that the coaches believe are ready for and will be successful in the ODP program. These players are invited to join the appropriate ODP pool. An ODP “pool” is the age- and gender-specific group of players coaches have selected to participate in the ASA ODP system. Players then have an opportunity to represent the state, region, and nation in international tournaments.
